Special Interview with YB Lye Siew Weng
ADUN for Air Putih
Q: What are your feelings being re-elected again?
Firstly I wish to thank all my loyal and hardworking service team members and the electorate that had supported me during this recent General election. I am grateful for the majority of 1,218 votes which could have been higher if some of the voters had not been sent to new polling centers to vote because of the new delineation exercise. I personally received quite a number of complaints regarding this issue. Some voters were really stressed out just going around a few polling centers and not finding their names there in spite of having voted there before. Naturally, some got tired and didn’t vote as they should while others ended up very frustrated with all the running around. So we can only imagine who they would have voted for.
Q: What are the issues that you would be attending to?
Well there is the outstanding issue of the Bukit Bendera cable car breakdown which has resulted in a lot of inconvenience for the families that have school-going children and older folks. Also the lack of tourists has resulted in a sharp drop in the hill-top businesses. Immediately after the elections, I met up with YB Teng Chang Yeow & YB Dato Koay Kar Huah and we have agreed to pool our resources together to solve this problem. A state committee comprising the Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri, YB Teng, YB Dato Koay and myself will be meeting soon to restore the cable car services as soon as possible.
Also as I have promised, I will be setting up another 2 service centers to further serve the people in my kawasan and to solve their problems.
